Bin Enquiry FormCommunity arts organisations that deliver cultural events and activities in the city can apply to a $40,000 fund to cover their operational costs.
The Community Arts and Culture Grant opened on 21 June for not-for-profit arts organisations based in Lower Hutt. The fund's purpose is to contribute to the creative life of the Hutt Valley, its residents and visitors by supporting local arts groups with operational costs while they create innovative and culturally rich events and projects. Costs might include rent, power, administrator’s or tutor fees.
Last year, nine local arts organisations were supported by the fund including The Blueprint Community Trust. The Trust received $8000 towards the operational costs of running The Petone Depot, a community led arts space and music venue located in Doreen Doolan mall just off Jackson Street. Director, Ange Holstslag, says, “This grant gave us some security by helping out with a coordinator’s fee. This enabled us to run community led arts events, and keep the doors open to provide a space for artists and musicians to showcase their work and build audiences.”
The fund has $40,000 to allocate, it opened on 21 June and applications close on Monday 26 July 2021. The fund covers costs incurred from July 2021 to June2022.
