What should my child wear in the pool?

  • All preschoolers and school age children must wear a swim cap and fitted goggles
  • Girls need to wear one-piece fitting togs
  • Boys need to wear fitted swimwear

What happens if my child cries?

Swim City has a “no crying policy” A child will not learn while they are crying and they will associate water with crying. We will approach this by working with the child on the side of the pool supported by the parents until they are ready to enter the pool.

Will I have the same instructor?

We can't guarantee your instructor will stay the same each term.

How do I book for the next term?

We use a roll-over booking system. This means your child will be rolled over into the same class for the next term.

What if my child progresses?

If the instructor thinks your child is ready to progress, we'll contact you to discuss available days and times for the next level.

What if my child isn't progressing?

Every child learns at a different pace, and some children can take longer to master the skills needed to progress to the next level.

If you are concerned about your child’s progression please let our office staff know. We'll follow up with the relevant instructor and then get in touch with you, doing our best to ensure your child keeps developing their swimming skills.

Do I need to stay at the pool?

If your child is under 8 years old, they need to be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years old or over.  This means you need to stay at the pool, watch your child, and be able to provide immediate help if needed.  This is a standard rule that applies to any children under 8 using our pools.

Do I need to get in the pool with my child?

For all Aquatots level classes a parent/caregiver will need to be in the pool. These classes also teach you how to support your child in getting comfortable in the water, and how both of you can work to be safe around water.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

Let the Swim City office know as soon as possible if your child is unable to attend.

If you miss a lesson due to sickness, we will offer you a credit - we don't offer make up lessons. If you can provide a medical certificate within a month of the date on the certificate, we will credit up to 2 lessons per term.

Kids in Aquatot classes are not required to provide a medical certificate but the 2 credits maximum per term rule applies.

If we have to cancel any lessons due to unforeseen circumstances a credit will be placed on your account. These credits will be put towards payment for the next term of lessons. We're unable to issue refunds.

Am I allowed to take photos of my child in lessons?

Swim City does not allow any filming or photos being taken while a child is participating in our Learn to Swim or school programme.

Can we take a break for a term?

Let the Swim City office know if you would like a term off. When you're ready to book in again, please contact us during the final week of the current term. We can't guarantee you'll be offered the same time or space.

Do you offer discounts?

When booking three or more family members into the programme, we offer a 50% discount.**This will be applied to the lowest priced booking.

**This cannot be used in conjunction with any other subsidy or funding

We also offer a discounted price on the holiday intensive programme when you book for both full weeks.
