We support the local art sector through our Community Arts and Culture Policy (PDF 456 KB)
Community art is for everyone! Art projects are increasingly being used by organisations and groups in areas like youth, health, education and community development. Art has a unique power to reach people. It has a meaningful impact on our lives and helps us express our cultural identity, tell our stories and make connections.
Businesses can get involved as sponsors, by providing funding, facilities, a venue, discounted goods or services, or through their expertise, marketing and promotion abilities.
Watch our artist interview series to meet Lower Hutt artists and find about who they are, their work, and the inspirations and challenges of being an artist:
Arts specific funding includes the Creative Communities Fund and the Community arts and culture fund.
