My passion is to ensure that people living and working in the Petone Community Board electorate are able to continue to enjoy accessibility to the Wellington region and all it offers. Traffic management becomes paramount. Green spaces need to be protected. Where housing density is increased green space becomes more important as does access to sunlight. Heritage Buildings should be treasured – as they are an integral part of NZ’s history. Iconic Petone Wharf needs to be revitalised, as a feature of our harbour’s tourism and increasingly our transport system.
I have been directly involved with saving The Eastbourne Bus Barns, installing the Wahine Memorial and received the Prime Minister’s Award on behalf of the community for this work. I also helped save and improve the Whiorau Reserve.
I have six years experience on a community board.
I’m a student from the east end of Jackson St. Petone can be a great place to live, but some have been left behind. Rents are high, inequality has widened, we’re working harder yet wages are lower, over 1,000 are homeless in the Hutt, and transport policy is backwards. It’s time to be bold – to have housing, food, and public transport for all. Our community board must push the council to represent everyone: social housing, rent controls, fully-funded free public transport, a living wage for all, keeping water out of private hands, bringing back common spaces, and – with Petone facing rising seas – tackling climate change through all these measures together.
Maybe you don’t vote in by-elections. It’s understandable – nothing ever seems to change. Hutt City is run for the few, not the many. We can change it. We will make this our city and our community: a Hutt for everyone.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa
I have lived in Petone since 2000. I am a public servant working in conservation and tourism, and a passionate Petone resident. I love our diversity, café culture, historical uniqueness and our community. I pride myself on being approachable and able to communicate to a wide variety of people from all backgrounds.
This place holds significance to all of us who live here. Its history sits as a largely untold story for our city, region and country. There are also challenges such as rising sea levels, the Petone 2040 vision and our fragile environment. There is potential to create a future WE want and can be proud of to leave to our future generations.
I am standing for the Petone Community Board because I want to ensure all our voices and views are heard in the future planning for our community.
Our community is incredibly diverse, vibrant, and unique. If elected, I’ll be an effective, passionate, and positive advocate championing the best outcomes for residents. I’m committed to protecting and enhancing our community amenities and facilities so everyone can use them; backing the restoring of our natural environment; supporting initiatives to clean up our beaches, streets, and parks; engaging with local businesses and organisations; and addressing transport safety concerns.
When previously sitting on the Auckland City Centre Advisory Board, I gained extensive experience making decisions allocating funding for social projects and investment into parks, streetscapes, and transport projects that benefitted the community and businesses. Combined with my experience working in the private and public sector on city development and growth issues, I have the skills, experience, and commitment to represent you on the Board. I value our community, and want to ensure its accessible, inclusive, and safe for everyone.
