Bin Enquiry FormFriends of Waiwhetu Stream was established in November 2011, having evolved from the earlier Waiwhetu Stream Action Group. The group’s vision is that “Waiwhetu Stream is a healthy, functioning ecosystem treasured and enjoyed by our community”.
The group works with all interested parties to rehabilitate the stream, and acts as a channel for communication between the community and the statutory bodies responsible for managing the stream. At a practical level, the group organises activities such as planting days, weeding and rubbish collection along the stream banks, and removal of Cape pondweed from the stream channel. Rubbish collection takes place on the first weekend of each month, and volunteers are always welcome.
New members and volunteers are welcome. To become a member, fill out the form on the Friends of Waiwhetū Stream.
