Get advice
Applying for a resource consent can get complicated. If you need help at any stage, email resourceconsents@huttcity.govt.nz. We’re happy to talk about your activity and provide information and advice on your application.
After talking, we might recommend that you need the services of an expert (for example an engineer, surveyor or resource management consultant) – or a building consent too.
What do I need to apply?
To apply for a resource consent you need to:
- download and complete an application form (PDF 173 kb) or pick one up from the Council offices
- complete an assessment of environmental effects (AEE). This describes all the environmental effects of your proposed activity and the ways that you’ll mitigate (reduce) them.
- identify any affected parties and how they might be affected. Affected parties are people or organisations who might be more interested in or more affected by your activity than the general public. They're usually your immediate neighbours, but can also include people who are farther away
- if you don’t want your application to be ‘notified’, talk to the affected parties and seek their written approval (PDF 134 kb). Alternatively, tell us why you don’t think they’re affected or why you can’t get their approval.
- write a covering letter outlining what you want to do
- supply plans of your proposal to a scale of either 1:100 or 1:200
- provide all the other documents required by the application form
- pay the required fees.
