Bin Enquiry FormHutt City Council intends to consider a proposal to revoke the reserve status of the property situated at 132A Molesworth Street in Pomare, being Lots 1 and 2 on DP 75169, comprising 2691 square metres.
132A Molesworth Street location
The reserve is a local purpose reserve (community use). It sits behind the Pomare School grounds, and is enclosed by housing on its other boundaries. It has only one legal access off Molesworth Street.
The reserve has previously housed a community resource centre, which was established to cater for local Maori who did not have links with a Hutt Valley Marae. The building was removed from the site some years ago as it wasn't used for its intended purpose. The building had fallen into disrepair and had been subject to vandalism. Since removing the building the reserve has not been used for any other formal purpose.
Council is proposing revoking the reserve status of the property on the basis that the reserve has a low assessment of reserve value, is not well utilised and there are other reserves close by that provide open space for people in this area of the Lower Hutt.
Council’s intention is that it would dispose of the reserve and utilise the nett proceeds of sale to undertake reserve improvements elsewhere.
