Bin Enquiry FormThe Hutt City Council hereby gives public notice under section 24(2)(b) of the Reserves Act 1977 that it intends to consider a proposal to revoke a part of the reserve status of the property identified as Mitchell Park being a part of Pt Lot 1 on DP25427 comprising an area measuring 1640m2.
The area outlined in green on the aerial below shows the footprint of the land proposed for revocation. This area is currently leased to the Hutt Valley Tennis Assocaition (HVTA). The intent is that Council would sell the land outlined in green to the adjacent health centre for parking in support of further development of health facilities on its existing site.
Council would then use the proceeds to enhance the tennis facilities. The HVTA supports the proposal. Council is making this proposal on the basis that the proposal has less than minor impact on public access to the long established use of the Park, and creates an opportuntiy to make long planned improvements to the Park by reinvesting the sale proceeds.
Council will dispose of the reserve and make available the nett proceeds of sale to the HVTA to undertake improvements to the tennis facilities at Mitchell Park. This will include the development of a new court (as highlighted in blue), and the covering of four courts to create an ‘indoor court area’ (as highlighted in yellow).
Written submissions regarding this proposal must be sent to Hutt City, Private Bag 31912, Lower Hutt or sent to submission@huttcity.govt.nz. Submissions in support of or objections to the proposal must be received no later than 7 May 2021. Further information about this proposal can be viewed at www.huttcity.govt.nz, or by contacting aaron.marsh@huttcity.govt.nz
